Exhale That Which No Longer Serves You

Several weeks ago, a private yoga client stated before our practice together, "Tim, I need to find peace today." I had only moments to think about how this client could achieve this during the next hour. As we began the breathwork (pranayama), I offered him the following mantra to anchor the sequence "Inhale peace and balance - exhale that which no longer serves you." At the end of the session, he looked at me, smiled, and said, "That was just awesome!"

Since that day, I have continued offering this simple sentence to my weekend community classes. Today, I am sharing with you, my readers, a mini-sequence that incorporates this theme.

Mini Practice

·    Find a position that feels comfortable and safe for you (sitting or lying down).

·    Feel the support of the floor/bed beneath you, inhale deeply through the nose, and exhale through the mouth.

·    On the next inhale, breathe in peace and balance. On the exhale, breathe out and let go of that which no longer serves you.

·    Repeat as many times as needed to find grounding. If your mind wanders, return to the breath.

For better direction, I leave you with a guided meditation to settle in and find peace. I have also included YouTube music to enrich your experience. Until next time -

 Namaste,

 Tim
